Trafford Met Smash Session 5 — Breaststroke Podium Sweep & Distance Grit in the 1500!
Session Five at the Cheshire County Championships 2026 (Macclesfield, 25m) delivered another huge chapter for Trafford Met — breaststroke finals stacked with medals, and real championship toughness on show in the 1500m Freestyle.
50m Breaststroke — medals, finals, and a 0.01 thriller
The headline moment was the 14yrs 50 Breast final — Trafford went 1–2–3–4 in a race that came down to nothing… Cheuk Hei Li (Aiden) took the win in 32.48, edging Andrew Wu in 32.49 — ONE HUNDREDTH between them. Also Both beat the club record set by James Rollaston 8 years ago.
Michael Pudjianto backed it up with bronze in 33.23, and Samuel Fletcher made it a Trafford top-four lockout in 34.86. Trafford were right in the medals elsewhere too: Huey Laverack stepped up when it mattered in the 13yrs final, grabbing silver in 38.27, with Oliver Brittle also making the big stage and finishing 4th in 39.58.
Samuel Lee delivered again in the 16yrs final, taking silver in 31.53. In the senior final, James Rollaston earned a strong 5th in 30.87.
Depth-wise, Trafford also had big swims in the full results from Etan Lo, Rhys Braun and Harris Rollaston, showing how stacked the squad is right through the age groups.
1500m Freestyle — back on track, grit… and a reserve-list hero
The distance events delivered some massive Trafford moments.
Letian Wu produced a superb swim for silver in the Female 17+/Open, clocking 17:51.13.
Evie Webster looked far more comfortable and composed, claiming bronze in the Female 14yrs with 18:58.85.
Tristan Carrasco Ruiz dug deep in the Male 14yrs, finishing 4th in 19:25.91 after feeling rough late in the race. Jake Webster made the most of a surprise reserve-list call-up in the 1500m Freestyle, smashing his PB to post 20:32.42 and finish 3rd.
SESSION 6 — Sprint Treble Complete & Breaststroke Brilliance!
Trafford Met came out flying in Session 6 at Cheshire Counties — with Aiden completing the triple sprint crown, and the girls’ breaststroke group stacking finals and bringing home more medals and Top-8 finishes.
Event 601 – 100m Breaststroke (Female)
Another quality session for Trafford’s breaststroke unit, with finals appearances across multiple age groups and some huge championship racing when it mattered.
12 Years Final
Mahla Sohi (12) produced a brilliant swim under pressure and was rewarded with joint bronze, touching in 1:30.16 (shared 3rd). She held her stroke rhythm beautifully on the way home and found that extra gear in the last 15m — a proper County-Champs medal swim.
14 Years Final
Evie Webster (14) secured a Top-8 finish, swimming 1:26.09 for 8th. A composed championship performance — staying in control early and pushing to the wall to land the points finish.
15 Years Final
Lina Khider (15) stepped up strongly in the final for silver, clocking 1:22.87. That’s a massive championship swim — aggressive tempo, strong underwater work and great back-end resilience.
16 Years Final
The standout: Eleanor Armstrong (16) was simply untouchable. She went 1:12.82 — a huge PB and another step closer to the Trafford club record. Calm first 50 (34.09 split), then absolutely powered home. Trophy swim. Also in the 16 final: Lily Meadows (16) delivered a solid points finish in 1:25.88 for 7th, showing real strength to hold on in a deep final.
17+/Open Final
Dominika Frackowiak (18) placed 7th in the final with 1:20.30, a strong senior-level points swim at Counties.
Event 602 – 50m Freestyle (Male)
This one was pure sprint fireworks — Trafford had multiple finals across the age groups, and the headline was massive:
14 Years Final
Cheuk Hei Li (Aiden, 14) completed the unbelievable sprint treble and became Cheshire 14Y 50m Freestyle Champion in 26.16. That’s 50 Breast champion + 50 Fly champion + now 50 Free champion — a statement meet.
Right alongside him in the same final:
Andrew Wu (14) fought hard for 4th in 27.71 (big points finish)
Etan Lo (14) took 7th in 28.05 (more Top-8 points)
A Trafford-heavy final and a brilliant sprint showing.
13 Years Final
Huey Laverack (13) claimed silver in 28.71 — a big sprint medal on a huge stage, Huey just keeps going from strength to strength the goal was 29 he surpassed that and went to 28.71. And Jake Webster (13) backed him up with a Top-8 finish, taking 8th in 31.55.
16 Years Final
A top senior sprint performance:
Elliott Hughes (16) grabbed silver in 24.66
Samuel Lee (16) placed 5th in 25.91
Robert Watson (16) placed 6th in 26.05

17+/Open Final
James Rollaston (23) made the Open final and finished 5th in 25.08 — a strong senior Top-8 in a fast field.
Event 603 – 200m Backstroke (Female)
Trafford picked up more quality results here too:
12 Years
Isabella Hill (12) delivered a brilliant swim to win the 12Y age group in 2:37.80 That’s a championship-winning backstroke performance with strong splits all the way through.
14 Years
Evie Webster (14) added another tough race to her day, finishing in 2:41.88.
13 Years
Isla Green (13) swam 2:49.07.
16 Years
Phoebe Carroll (16) went 2:33.95 in a deep field.

SESSION SEVEN — Trafford Met Bring The Heat: Golds, PBs & Records
Session Seven was loaded with quality — Zoey led the way with a dominant 100 Free title, Elliott produced a ridiculous double: 200 Free into a record-breaking 100 Fly, and Trafford had finalists everywhere, with big swims from Isabella Hill, Phoebe Carroll, Eleanor Armstrong, Harry Shea, Michael Pudjianto, Samuel Fletcher, Andrew Wu, and more.
EVENT 701 — Female 100m Freestyle
16 Years Final — Zoey dominates
This was the big statement swim: Zoey Rogers (16) took control of the race and backed up her heat speed with a composed, clinical final to take Gold in 58.58. Huge championship swim.Trafford made it a double presence in the final too — Phoebe Carroll (16) came through strongly for 4th in 1:01.67, and Eleanor Armstrong (16) held her place in a stacked field to finish 5th in 1:02.18. Three Trafford swimmers, all Top 5 in the county — that’s a serious squad.
12 Years Final — Isabella steps up
Isabella Hill (12) produced a brilliant swim in a fast age group, taking Silver in 1:06.01 after going 1:07.46 in the heats — a strong drop and great racing when it mattered.
14 Years Final — Trafford in the mix
Evie Webster (14) made the final and took 7th in 1:04.15, holding her place in a very quick field and showing real speed through the first 50.
15 Years Final — Florence right in the fight
Florence Magher (15) delivered a composed swim to take 6th in 1:03.58, showing she belongs in the county final mix.
17/Overs — Birthday girl Elodie goes so close
In the heats, Elodie Galvin (17) went painfully close to the 1-minute barrier, clocking 1:00.23 — and then backed it up in the final with 6th in 1:01.06 against an experienced, stacked final. Big swim under pressure. Also in that final, Rose Taylor-Bernard (18) and Imogen Brash (19) were both in the mix in the heats — Trafford depth again.
EVENT 702 — Open/Male 100m Butterfly
14 Years Final — Aiden (Cheuk Hei Li) takes Gold
Trafford’s sprint flyer Cheuk Hei Li (14) produced another top-level performance: Gold in 1:04.94 after a 1:06.32 heat. That’s how you race a final — step up, execute, and win it.
Trafford also placed multiple swimmers into the final:
Michael Pudjianto (14) battled hard for 5th in 1:13.90
Samuel Fletcher (14) held his stroke and fought to the wall for 6th in 1:14.71
This is a strong Trafford fly group — multiple finalists, big racing experience gained.
13 Years Final — Harry Shea wins Bronze, refuses to fade
A proper championship moment: Harry Shea (13) was right in the battle and stayed committed all the way to the touch, earning Bronze in 1:17.06. He also improved from 1:16.30 in the heats to make the final and deliver when it counted — huge.
16 Years Final — Elliott breaks records after 200 Free minutes earlier
This one deserves its own paragraph. Elliott Hughes (16) had already gone 2:02.32 in the 200 Free (final) — then came back not long after and produced a monster swim: Gold in 56.98 for the 100 Fly final. That’s not just fast — that’s high-level fatigue-proof racing. Record + massive PB energy, and exactly the sort of performance that lifts a whole team.
12 Years Final — Ben Betts makes the final
Benjamin Betts (12) made the county final and finished 5th in 1:31.50 — a great achievement to be top 5 in the county and a strong base to build from.
16 Years Final — Watson also in the A-final
Robert Watson (16) backed up his heat and took 6th in 1:06.00 in the final — another Trafford finalist in the toughest sprint event.
EVENT 704 — Open/Male 200m Freestyle
14 Years — Andrew Wu PB + Bronze
Massive swim from Andrew Wu (14): Bronze in 2:10.89, with a strong front-end (29.63 / 1:03.00 at the 100) and a committed back half. That’s a big PB performance on a big stage.
Also in the same age group, Tristan Carrasco Ruiz (14) made the final and finished 8th in 2:23.48 — county finalist, top 8, job done.
16 Years — Elliott doubles up for bronze after the fly later
Before the record-breaking 100 Fly, Elliott Hughes (16) threw down in the 200 Free final to take Bronze in 2:02.32 — in a very fast field. Add the fly gold afterwards and it turns into one of the standout doubles of the whole meet.
15 Years — Owen Barry in the HDW
Owen Barry (15) made the county final and finished 17th in 2:20.93 in the full results for the age group (not an A-final top , but still a strong championship swim to step into Counties racing.
EVENT 703 — Female 200m Butterfly
17/Overs — Letian Wu takes Bronze
In the 17/Overs age group, Letian Wu (17) delivered a powerful swim for Bronze in 2:29.53, holding her pace through the middle 100 and staying composed to the wall. Big medal in a demanding event.
15 Years — Lina Khider makes the final
Lina Khider (15) stepped up to make the county final and finished 6th in 2:39.42 — gritty swim in one of the toughest races of the meet.

CHESHIRE COUNTIES – SESSION 8
Another Trafford Sweep… UK Rankings Shaken… and Trophies Coming Home Again!
Session 8 delivered yet another statement from Trafford Met — depth across finals, podium sweeps, and performances that now put swimmers firmly into national conversations.
14Y 100m Breaststroke — Trafford CLEAN SWEEP
One of the moments of the championships.
With Aiden unavailable, Trafford still locked out the podium in stunning fashion:
Andrew Wu — 1:12.52
Tristan Carrasco Ruiz — 1:14.64 (huge PB)
Michael Pudjianto — 1:14.81
Samuel Fletcher — 1:19.09
An astonishing quartet — and now Andy, Tristan and Michael all sit inside the UK Top-20 for 100m Breaststroke this season. Serious standard.
The younger boys set the tone early in the 13Y 100m Breaststroke Final, with Trafford once again right in the middle of the action. Oliver Brittle powered home for silver in 1:23.33, while Huey Laverack backed it up with a fearless swim for bronze in 1:25.50 — two athletes attacking the race from the front and thriving under championship pressure.
In the 16Y final, Samuel Lee delivered exactly what he had promised. Targeting the 1:08 barrier, he nailed it with a stunning 1:08.64, only just missing gold after being run down in the final five metres — a brutal finish, but a massive statement swim and another Trafford medal added to the haul.
Eleanor Armstrong dominates the 200m Breast
Eleanor produced a top-class championship swim to take gold in the 16Y 200m Breaststroke, touching in 2:40.56 — composed, clinical, and delivered when it mattered.
Louisa Zolkiewski shows the youngsters how trophies are won
In the senior women’s butterfly, Louisa stepped up to take victory in the 17/O 100m Fly in 1:03.43 — a brilliant race… and all while mid-training cycle and nowhere near rested. Experience + class on show.
Letian Wu backed that up with another senior medal in 1:04.91.
Elliott Hughes powers through the 400 IM
A gutsy and commanding swim from Elliott, storming to gold in the 16Y 400 IM in 4:45.91 — closing hard and showing real championship nerve.
