12th May, Yorkshire Masters, Leeds

16 made the trip across the Pennines for what would be a great day for Trafford.  The team sprit was high and all had a good time. We returned with 48 medals

We had 2 swimmers representing Trafford for the first time: Katie and Matthew; welcome guys! It was good to see Louise back in Trafford colours after a 3 year break from racing.  We also had a father (Michael) and son (Jacob) representing the club with Jacob on his first outing for the club as a Master (senior age group) having swum for the club as an age-grouper.

Highlights from behind the medal tables: Holly recorded 3 PBs and just missed out on a 4th. Rachel was just shy of a couple of British Records. The most talked about swims came from Helen in the 400 free who was 1 second off her lifetime PB and she negatively split it! Truly representing the club motto of “Max ‘n’ build”. Paul as you might expect, won the 200 free, but he did it on fly!

Well done everyone!

24th February, North West Masters, Blackpool

Our first meet of the year offers a good opportunity to set a benchmark for 2018.

We had a large team make the journey to Blackpool.

We came away with 83 individual medals (57 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze) and 10 relay golds.

We had 7 individuals break North West Records and 6 team records. Star of the show though was Rachel Barton who broke 2 British records. The 50 Backstroke which she first broke in the individual event then lowered again as first leg of the mixed medley relay with a time of 39.48. Rachel also broke the 100m backstroke record with a time of 1:28.50.

A successful meet that saw Nev Barton being awarded top male and Trafford retaining the top team trophy for the 10thyear in a row!

A special mention must go to Stephen Moores competiting in his first ever swimming competition.

Well done everyone!
