Achievements 2013

North West Distance Meet, Blackpool

This Meet is always a good way to start the year. The Medal Tally from the 15 Trafford swimmers was: 9 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

The highlight of the meet was Rachel's British Record in the 400 free in 5:52.51

Yorkshire Masters, Scarborough

5 Trafford Swimmers brought home 16 medals between them.

Highlights coming from our golden couple, Neville and Rachel Barton. Nev came back with 3 golds from 3 swims. Rachel, continued her age group domination with 4 golds and 3 British Records.

Northwest Sprint Meet, Blackpool

26 Trafford Swimmers swam 41 gold medal-winning performances. With multiple golds for Alec Johnson, Helen Sadler, Jo Bolton, Kath Thomas, Laura Bowdon, Lucy Lloyd-Roach, Neil MacKinnon, Neville Barton, Phil Eccles, Richard Symons, Rachel Barton and Rachel O’Gorman

Rachel Barton also broke a British record in the 50 freestyle.

Channel relay, July 2013

Three Trafford Members, Jane McCormick, Sarah Healey and Lucy Lloyd-Roach joined forces with 3 other women to form Andy’s Channel Ladies swimming team. They completed the double English Channel Crossing in 18 hours and 13 minutes breaking the existing World Record for an all female team!

Cheshire Sprints, Macclesfield

33 gold medals returned to Sale as did the top club trophy

ASA National Masters Championships, Sheffield

Trafford had 34 swimmers representing the club with ages ranging from 19 to 76!

42 medals came back across the Pennines with more than half of these Gold.

Alec and Lucy cleaned up in the Butterfly events with Alec getting 2 and Lucy 3 gold medals.

The relay teams broke a number of British Records:

160+ team of Helen Sadler, Rob Arnold, Laura Bowden and Richard Symons in the 4x200 Freestyle relay

200+ team of Alec Johnson, Neil Mackinnon, Neville Barton and Richard Symons broke the 4x200 freestyle relay

240+ team of Neil Mackinnon, Ashley McEwan, Alec Johnson and Neville Barton broke the 4x50 freestyle relay

Yet again the star of the meet for Trafford was Rachel Barton. She continued her record breaking swims and out of 6 events she broke 5 British Records missing the 6th by 0.3 of a second!

Masters Inter-counties Gala, Darlington

The year is alwyas brought to a close with the annual inter-counties competition. The club provided a third of the swimmers to this strong team. Cheshire came 2nd to Yorkshire in the North region and 6th Nationally.
