Founded as Sale Amateur Swimming Club, essentially a teaching and lifesaving club with one evening a week.
New Sale Leisure Centre completed. Bold decision to increase the water time to four evenings a week, despite not having enough swimmers to justify the expense. enabled the club to establish itself at local level, then at county level and beyond.
Introduction of early morning training to meet the needs of the swimmers reputation increasingly established at National level and on to International representation.
Structure further developed as part of Trafford Borough initiative name changed to Trafford Metropolitan Borough Swimming Club to access early evening prime time training.
Partnership with Trafford Leisure Trust commenced to provide seamless progression for swimmer development.
There have been many challenges over the years, which the club has endeavored to develop for the benefit of all swimmers. These challenges are ever changing and now we have, for the first time, national initiatives with clear guidelines to take the club forward into the new millennium.
We must look to move forward and provide opportunities to meet the needs and aspirations of the next generation of athlete.
