North West Regional Open Age Championships 2018

1 Gold
2 silvers
2 bronze

What another great championship that has been had by the seniors of Trafford Metro, a lot of the swimmers this year went into open age group and proved they can still cut it with the best in the north-west. Representing Trafford Metro was Reece CH, Tiago L, Fay J, Laura H, Holly R, James, George S, Louisa Z, Megan H, Paul B, Andy, Lucy LR, Lawrence L, Alex T, Beth H, Aimie G, Cailin T, Matt CH, Abigail C, and Luc C.

Only 5 years ago we had seen just a couple of swimmers for Trafford these days more and more of you are showing great determination to be the best that you can be. The biggest results went to James R for getting the full set of medals but he had to wait to the last day of championships to get the set and wow was it a swim! James beat his PB in the heats but knew he had more, and when the final came he truly prevailed and smashed his time buy 0.7s in the final to win by over 1 second on the 50 breast stroke and to claim a time which has put him in the GB champs in August, the time was very impressive 31.81. James also secured silver in a very fast 100 fc going 56.00 and in the 100 bs claimed bronze. Another fine performer was Megan Hughes who went up into the open age group this year and showed she can cut it by going fastest into the 50fc final but just missing the gold in the final but a very impressive silver will do and a time of 27.21. Another swimmer to go up an age group was Holly R who had a string of events but notably the best result came in the 50 bs, although not the greatest time she has done she managed a very impressive Bronze in the

open age group. Other swimmers who made finals included Laura H who made the 100fly and 50 bs final who was an out side burner for the 50 bs who just missed on the bronze but finished an impressive 4th Place. There were lots of swims at the champs and great performance well done to everyone who took part keep striving for success and do the best you possibly can do who knows where it could take you. Also well done to 3 other swimmers who took part in the champs Hannah H, Jack O, and Emily C swimming for CoM and CoS, lots of swims for this trio with Jack O getting Silver in the 200 bs and Emily silver in the 200fly, great work.
