MiniMets enjoyed an afternoon of competiton and fun at the weekend in the first ever MiniMets swimming Olympics. For most of the swimmers it was their first taste of competitive swimming giving them an idea of what it will be like when they progress to the Red Squad and beyond within the club.
There were some super swims on the day as well as lots of fun as the picture below of the novelty race shows. Well done to all the swimmers and their teachers/coaches for making it a memorable ocassion.
Here's what one of the parents thought about the event:
Hi Moira
Just thought I would let you know how much we enjoyed yesterday's Swimming Olympics. I thought it was brilliant, all the children had so much fun and really entered into the team spirit and it was great to watch.
I have never seen Callum be so competitive before, he absolutely loved it and he can't wait to take his medal to school tomorrow to do a Show and Tell about it. He loved the Olympic torch race and the fact he got to stand on a real podium at the end.
After having the disappointment of his school sports day being cancelled for the fourth year on the run due to bad weather, the great thing about swimming is it can't get rained off!
Well done to everybody involved in organising such a great event.
Best Regards
