Cheshire County Championships 2014 15/16 March

TURN IT OVER TURNER!!!

The 1st weekend of Cheshire championships 2014 have just passed and what a great weekend it was for Trafford Metro with 59 swims, 69% of which were personal bests(pb's). Personal bests are great but what's even better is making the top 8 in the county for your age group. From the 59 swims, 18 were top 8 finishes. Lauren Banner made a stand out  performance of the weekend, making the 100m breastroke final and narrowly missing out on the bronze medal. She was able to smash her best ever time by going 1:21.87 securing a regional time also, but it didn't stop there for Lauren as the next day she came back to take on the 50 B/s, her more favoured event. As she waited for the other girls to compete, Lauren again narrowly missed out on the elusive Bronze by 0.09s in the 12 years age group. Other swimmers to narrowly miss out on the medals were Luke Turner (50m Back 4th), Andrew Bolton (400m FC 4th), Nisarg Dharashivkar (50m Back 5th) and Emily Conway (100m Fly 4th). With no Medals going into the 3rd session it looked like an uphill task for Luke Turner in the 50m F/c with an entry time of 34s. Luke was 3-4seconds away from the medals, but for Luke this mission was meant for him. As he dived in, Luke's arms turned over with great speed and with the turn coming up the coaches knew how his turns were the day before and prayed for a decent turn to carry his speed and this time he prevailed and had another great leg on the 2nd 25m. His resulting time of 29.98 totally wiped out his old time by over 4 seconds securing a well deserved Bronze Medal making him the 1st swimmer of 2014 from Trafford Metro to get a medal. Also making the top 8 in the county were Sam Bolton (100m BK 7th, 400m IM 6th, & 200 BK 7th- 14years) , Luke Turner (100m BK 6th - 11 years), Tiago Lawrie (100m BS 5th - 12years) , Emily Conway(50m Fly 5th - 11years), Nisarg Dharashivkar (50m Fly 7th, 50m FC 8th - 13years), and Andrew Bolton (50m Fly 7th, 100m BS 5th, 50m Fc 6th - 16years). Big Congratulations to the swimmers who made the top 8 in the County for your respective age groups as this is no mean feat.
Also at the champs: Megan Barnard, Hannah Head, Eleanor Conway, Abigail Cheetham, Elysisa Zdolyny, Keaton Partington, Joe Hammond,  Emily Richardson, Ella Parker, Eve Salsbury, Rachael Smith, Robbie Christopherson and Rebecca Lee.
