Great Achievements. 31 swimmers qulaified. PBs, 4th places and medals. Well done Trafford Met, Craig, coaches, helpers. Please read Craig's report for more details.

So this years events had seen quite a few new faces to the county champs, last year we had 25 swimmers and this year we had 31 achieving the qualifications to enter. Although we had seen a few faces move to the Lancashire side Trafford were still to hold there own at the county meet. Even though it was at the start of the year we still sore quite a few great times being accomplished, and their were quite a few near misses to the Podium as 4 was on the door for a few unlucky swimmers but still gave a great effort to within margins of a Medal.
Knocking on the door at 4th :-
Dan New 200 Bs & 50 Bs
Jo Hammond 50 Bs
Dan Walsh 100 Bk
Jacob Boyle 400 IM
Andrew Bolton 1500Fc
Daniel Walsh 100 Bk
Making the top 8 also included, Lauren Banner 5th in 100 and 50 Bs, Sam McCall 6th in 100 Bk & 5th in 200 Bk, Emily Conway 5th in 100 fly, 7th in 50 fly & 8th in 400IM, Joe Hammond was 8th in the 50 Fly, Daniel New finished 6th in the 1500Fc & 100Bs, Jacob Boyle finished 8th in the 200IM, Andrew Bolton 8th in the 100 FC, and Laura Head 7th in the 400 IM. A total of 21 top 8 performances were reached by the swimmers during the competition and all swimmers who took part should be very proud as to get to the championships is a feat in itself so well done to everyone who made Trafford Metro proud.
Don’t worry we didn’t miss any medals as Emily Conway was able to gain TM first medal of the championships achieving a Bronze in the battle of the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:51.10 in the girls 13years age group, and then we had a 2nd Medal won by Daniel Walsh who had endure a final and battle it out to achieve his first medal of the championships and this was to be the case as Dan swam in a great time of 1:01.82 in the 100 IM final to take the Silver medal in the OPEN age group.
To Finish off the championships we introduced a lot of new faces to the event by taking a team of 48 swimmers and although we didn’t get any medallists this time around I think all 48 swimmers should be very proud as many swimmers achieved great times but it looks like more hard work is needed to be within a chance of gaining a medal in next years parade, so keep to the routine work hard and you never know you could also be a medal winner.

Big thank you to the coaches for helping prepare the swimmers for the meet, parents who helped on poolside officialing and a big thanks to Dan Pepper who helped on poolside over the competition weekends with out all of you we couldn’t have done such a great job.
