For our youngest entry-level swimmers the Mini Mets Swim Scheme replaces our Swim Link process as of September 2011 and will be the point of entry to the Club. Swimmers that have progressed through learn to swim schemes elsewhere completing the early levels of the National Plan for Swimming Teaching are eligible for a trial in the Mini Mets Squad. This runs as 3 separate sessions between 12 noon until 2.30pm every saturday. Progression from Mini Mets is into the training squads with the Red Squad being the first group followed by Blue, Development 2, Development 1, Age Group 2, Age Group 1 and Youth.
The squads follow a long term development programme designed to continually work on a swimmers technique whilst progressively developing strength and stamina in a safely prescribed manner from around the age of 8/9 to 18.
At 18 years of age swimmers are eligible to swim with the Masters group. The Masters are one of the top swim squads in the UK and hold a number of World European and British records
For swimmers that are already established in swimming and are looking to join our Club they will be made welcome to come down on a sunday evening for a trial to see which squad they are best suited to.
